Sky Sports understands that Slovenia should be one of Northern Ireland’s opponents in March 2021 as part of preparations for the Euro 2021 finals.
Michael O’Neill’s side secured their first ever appearance at the European Championships as they finished top of their qualifying group.
Northern Ireland were then placed in Group C at the tournament finals, alongside Germany, Poland and Ukraine, but they have yet to announce the opponents and dates for the warm-up games.
The Green and White Army are expected to play four matches in the build up to Euro 2021 and the latest reports suggest they are close to agreeing an international friendly with Slovenia.
According to Sky Sports, the two national teams are in advances talks over a match that should take place in Belfast on 28 March.
Northern Ireland were initially supposed to face Poland in one of the first games of 2021, but the match was canceled after the two sides were paired together at the Euro 2021 draw.
