Fiorentina vs Inter prediction
Sunday’s match at Stadio Artemio Franchi sees Fiorentina and Inter take on each other on day 25 of the 2015/2016 Serie A campaign. Both teams are eyeing a place in the Champions League and it remains to be seen who will have a reason for celebration this time out.
Stadio Artemio Franchi – the fortress
Fiorentina are enjoying a very successful season, but they do not seem to be capable of matching high-flying Napoli and Juventus, speaking of the race for Scudetto. The Viola’s main goal is to book a place in the Champions League and they are currently sitting in third place in the Serie A standings. Paulo Sousa’s men will have a chance to increase their advantage over Inter to four points, but Sunday’s game against the Nerazzurri will be anything but a walk in the park for the hosts. Over the years Fiorentina have turned their Stadio Artemio Franchi into a real fortress and they will be looking to record their third consecutive win at home ground when they take on Inter on Matchday 25. Nikola Kalinic is the team’s top scorer (10 goals), but you should have in mind that he scored his last league goal on 20 December.
Matias Fernandez misses the match through suspension, while Milan Badelj is a major doubt and he will be assessed on the match day. Coach Paulo Sousa is likely to stick to the 3-4-2-1 formation.
Scudetto just a dream
Inter impressed in the first half of the season as well, but Roberto Mancini’s men have been struggling to find their form in 2016. The Nerazzurri recorded only one win in previous six league matches and, as a result, they are 11 points behind league leaders Napoli in the Serie A standings. Inter played out a 3-3 draw with Verona in the City of Love at the weekend and they certainly face a difficult task in Sunday’s match against Fiorentina. Inter are eyeing a place in the Champions League, but the visitors will be definitely be happy with one point from Sunday’s clash against Viola. Manuel Icardi found the net in the 3-3 draw with the Mastini and the Argentine attacker will be the man to watch in the away side. It has to be noted that the Nerazzurri are after their seventh away triumph of the season.
Felipe Melo will have to serve his ban, but coach Roberto Mancini has no injury worries ahead of the trip to Florence. Croatian attacker Ivan Perisic is likely to be recalled to the starting XI after he scored in the 3-3 draw with Verona at the weekend.
Quick Facts
- Fiorentina are after their eighth clean sheet at home ground
- Viola scored 2+ goals in six of their previous seven home fixtures
- Inter failed to keep a clean sheet in last six league matches
- Nine goals in total were scored in Inter’s past two games in Serie A
- Roberto Mancini’s team suffered a loss in each of last three meeetings with Viola
Fiorentina vs Inter betting tip
Fiorentina have been in a better form than Inter of late, but given that both teams are desperate to book their place in the Champions League, I am not tempted to put my money on Viola this time out. Both sides are likely to go for a win in Sunday’s Serie A game and, taking everything into account, both teams should score in the Stadio Artemio Franchi clash.
Tip: Both teams to score
