Norwich vs Manchester City prediction
Saturday’s match at Carrow Road pits together Norwich and Manchester City, the two teams with entirely different ambitions in the 2015/2016 Premier League campaign. The Canaries are desperate to secure the top flight survival, while the Citizens aim to win the domestic trophy.
Three consecutive defeats
Norwich City are running down a blind alley. The Canaries have been struggling in the Premier League of late and they are on a ten-game winless run in all competitions ahead of Saturday’s game against Manchester City. Alex Neil’s troops have been struggling at the back in the second half of the season, but a win over the Citizens could see them escape the relegation zone. Norwich City struggle when facing top-table sides and you should have in mind that the team were beaten by Tottenham, Liverpool and Chelsea in front of home fans earlier this season. Anyhow, the Canaries do not seem to be at the top of their game at the moment, meaning that home win should not be considered this time out. Cameron Jerome is widely expected to lead the attack for the hosts against Man City.
Andre Wisdom and Alexander Tettey are both sidelined with injury, while Sebastien Bassong is doubtful and he will be monitored ahead of the kick-off. Robbie Brady should recover in time to face Manchester City.
Morale-boosting win over Villa
Thanks to a 4-0 victory over rock-bottom Aston Villa Manchester City managed to keep their hopes of winning the Premier League title alive. The Citizens are ten points behind league leaders Leicester City, but given that Manuel Pellegrini’s men have one game in hand, Saturday’s match against Norwich City could be crucial for the Etihad Stadium outfit. Man City face Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League on Tuesday evening and they certainly want to head into the game high on confidence. Kun Aguero did fail to score from the penalty spot in the triumph over Aston Villa, but he produced a thrilling display in the Etihad Stadium clash and no doubt he will be the man to watch in the away team. Manuel Pellegrini’s team are eyeing their only sixth away win of the season, but I believe that they are capable of beating the out-of-form Canaries.
Kevin De Bruyne, Fabian Delph and Samir Nasri are all out of contention through injury, but coach Manuel Pellegrini has no other selection worries ahead of the trip to Norwich. Jesus Navas is likely to start the match, with Aleksandar Kolarov pushing for a start as well.
Quick Facts
- Norwich are on a ten-game winless run in all competitions
- Canaries recorded their last win over Man City at Carrow Road back in 2011
- Over 2.5 goals were scored in three of Manchester City’s last four away games
- Citizens scored 12 goals in last four meetings with Norwich City
- Manchester City recorded only one win in previous four league fixtures
Norwich vs Manchester City betting tip
Manchester City are superior to Norwich City, but the Citizens will have to prove their worth on the field. Given that they are ten points behind league leaders Leicester City, this has to go down as a must-win game for the visitors and if we have in mind Norwich’s recent form, away win appears on the cards. In their last meeting at Carrow Road (FA Cup) Manchester City recorded a routine 3-0 win over Norwich.
Tip: Manchester City/Manchester City
