Dunga wants Neymar to lead Brazil at 2016 Summer Olympics

Brazil head coach Dunga has confirmed he wants to have Neymar available for both 2016 Copa America Centenario and the summer Olympics, which will be held in Rio de Janeiro in August.

Brazil want to include Neymar as one of three permitted over-age players.

Dunga is aware that he will have to negotiate with Barcelona and the Catalans’ manager Luis Enrique in order to find the optimal solution for the Blaugrana star, who is set on course for another treble with his club this season.

“There are certain players that we are counting on both for the Copa America and the Olympics”, Dunga said referring to Neymar, who is expected to lead the Brazilian selection at both summer tournaments.

“We are aware of the heavy schedule, but we want to find the best solution for the club (Barcelona) and for our country”, he added.

Brazil will first take part at the 2016 Copa America Centenario that will take place from 3 to 26 June.

The Selecao have been drawn in group B and will be playing against Ecuador, Peru and the debutants Haiti.

Dunga’s men will open the tournament on 4 June with their game against Ecuador that will be played in Pasadena.

Less than a month later, Brazil will take part at the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

Soccer tournament at the 2016 Summer Olympics is scheduled to be held from 3 to 20 August with all the games to be played in Rio de Janeiro, but also in Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Salvador, Sao Paulo and Manaus.
